How to plan the two days
Leave home between 5.30 and 6.30am on day one, take one proper breakfast stop, and reach before the afternoon heat. Keep the sightseeing for the evening of day one and the morning of day two, and start back by 3pm so you are home before it gets late. Booking a room near what you came to see saves you two hours of driving over the two days.
