With three days you can go 250 to 400 km and still have two full days there. This is where Purulia, the Jhargram forests and Puri become sensible, and where the Dooars starts to work if you use a train for the long leg. Below are the plans we run most often.

Where the three days go
Day one is the drive and settling in, day two is everything you came for, day three is one morning stop and the road home. That means anything more than about 400 km should use a train or a flight for the long leg, with our car doing the pickup, the sightseeing at the other end and the drop back. We will say plainly when the plan you want does not fit three days.

For the western districts, finish all driving before dark. Elephants use those roads at night.
Twelve or more people: a Tempo Traveller is more comfortable than two cars and stays together.
Book rooms first for February in Purulia and for Christmas week anywhere.

Is three days enough for Darjeeling?
Not really. Four days with a night train, or five days driving, is the shortest Darjeeling trip that feels like a holiday. Three days is better spent in Purulia or Jhargram.
