travel guide
Mayapur is about 122 km from central Kolkata and only 105 km from Barrackpore, because the road runs north through Kalyani anyway. Three to four hours by car. It is one of the few trips that is genuinely shorter from our belt than from the city, and it is comfortable as a single day out if you leave early.

The old town of temples on the other bank, reached by bridge or ferry. Most people do Mayapur and Nabadwip in the same day.
The 108 Shiva temples at Ambika Kalna are about 40 km away, and worth an hour on the way back.
Trains from Sealdah reach Nabadwip Dham or Krishnanagar and then you take a ferry or auto to Mayapur, which is fine for two people travelling light. With a family, a car from your gate saves the ferry queue and the walk, and lets you add Nabadwip and Kalna without planning connections. We also run this as a temple day: Mayapur, Nabadwip and back the same night.

Small things that decide whether the day is good or tiring.
Enter the temple complex before 11am. Later the queues and the heat both build.
Book rooms inside the campus well ahead; on festival dates they go a month early.
Carry socks. You will be walking barefoot on hot stone in places.
Road distances and drive times here are checked on road routing data and then widened for real traffic. Timings, ferry hours and entry rules change with the season, so ask us the day before you go and we will tell you what the road is like that week.

A day trip works best when the car reaches you early, from your own side of town.
